Our Itinerary

Sunday

• Let our shuttle meet you at Glacier International Airport near Kalispell. Enjoy spectacular mountain scenery as we transport you to East Glacier, Montana

• Savor great Mexican fare on the veranda of popular Serrano’s restaurant.

• Relax with an evening swim in the heated outdoor pool at lovely Glacier Park Lodge.

Monday

• Visit Running Eagle Falls, which thunders into a placid pool of deep turquoise water, and is listed as a Glacier “must see.”

• Catch a boat ferry across Lower Two Medicine Lake to our trailhead, enjoying views and commentary about Mount Sinipah, Rising Wolf, and other mountains.

• Hike 4.4 miles to enjoy the alpine beauty of Upper Two Medicine Lake, nestled among sheer peaks of red argillite and mountain goats. Getting there is half the fun, with waterfalls, brilliant wildflowers, and snow-capped peaks along the way.

• Relax on the peaceful boat cruise back across Lower Two Medicine Lake.

• Save room for delicious food and Big John’s hospitality at Two Sisters restaurant. Don’t miss the gourmet desserts!

• Look for moose, bear, coyotes, and elk as we drive to historic Many Glacier Hotel, on the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake.

Tuesday

• Take a short morning jaunt to look for moose at Fishercap Lake.

• Hike one of the spectacular mountain trails that will offer the week’s best views of mountain peaks, glaciers, wildflowers, aquamarine glacial lakes, and wildlife.

• Dine at the hotel’s Ptarmigan Dining Room, with its incredible views of surrounding lakes and mountains.

• Join us, if you’d like, on a short evening drive to look for wildlife.

• Lodging at Many Glacier Hotel.

Wednesday

• Visit Fishercap Lake, hoping for a peek at morning moose.

• Hike another of the area’s top mountain trails featuring breathtaking vistas, wildflowers, and wildlife.

• Enjoy an informal dinner at the Swiftcurrent café.

• Savor the view from our hotel deck of moonlit Grinnell Point rising majestically from Swiftcurrent Lake.

• Lodging at Many Glacier Hotel.

Thursday

• Admire the stunning turquoise waters of 9.5-mile-long St. Mary’s Lake as we hike 5 miles through sun-dappled forest to Baring Falls, St. Mary’s Falls, and Virginia Falls. Look for water ousals dipping in the falls’ blue-green pools.

• Drive the famous Going-To-The-Sun Road, which bisects the park and offers spectacular views of mountain peaks, Bird Woman Falls, the Weeping Wall, the Garden Wall, and other natural beauties.

• Stop at Logan Pass for pictures at the Continental Divide, the most elevated part of the Rocky Mountain range running from Alaska and the Yukon to Mexico. Look for mountain goats and bighorn sheep at the Pass, used by Native Americans years ago.

• Savor great food and the ambience of Lake McDonald Lodge’s dining hall.

• Lodging at Lake McDonald Lodge, on the shores of 10-mile-long Lake McDonald.

Friday

• Enjoy breakfast at Eddie’s in Apgar, shopping in West Glacier, and lunch on your own.

• Opt for great whitewater rafting we’ve arranged with experienced guides down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, listed by Moon Handbook as “one thing you should do while you’re in the area.” Designated a Wild and Scenic River, Middle Fork offers a safe enough raft ride for children.

• Relax with a casual dinner at the Grille near Lake McDonald Lodge.

• Watch the sun set over the mountains and Lake McDonald from the hotel patio’s rocking chairs.

• Lodging at Lake McDonald Lodge.

Saturday

• Enjoy this great last 4.7-mile hike together. Visit Trail of the Cedars, the easternmost rain forest in the US with 500-year-old cedars measuring 10-15 feet in diameter. Peer down into Avalanche Gorge, where swirling turquoise waters sculpt argillite, moss-covered canyons.

• Then set off to Avalanche Lake, rimmed on three sides by steep cliffs and waterfalls tumbling from Sperry Glacier.

• Enjoy an optional evening cruise on Lake McDonald, the Park’s largest lake.

• Lodging at Lake McDonald Lodge.

Sunday

• Let us shuttle you to Glacier International Airport for your trip home.
